| This week we look back at images from a motor vehicle accident occurring in 1947 where a car ran off the roadway and into the water of West Creek.
The accident occurred on New Suffolk Ave. near the "first bridge" at Kimogenor Point in New Suffolk.
Pictured in the picture is CFD's 1939 utility truck. This truck served the citizens of the Cutchogue Fire District from 1939-1966. The trucks role was the departments earliest version of the modern day heavy rescue truck. The truck carried the departments first Aid equipment, various tools and equipment, generator, floodlights and supply hose.
The truck was was replaced in 1966 by a larger upgraded utility /rescue truck.
The Cutchogue Fire Department is proud of our 98 years of dedicated service to the community. We are always looking for any old & historical articles representing our past for display on our website and in our new firehouse.
Community members who have photographs, newspaper clippings, or historical artifacts related to the Cutchogue Fire Department are encouraged to contact the website team at cutfd@optonline.net or reach out to the firehouse at 734-6907.
Photos and clippings can be scanned and safely returned to their owners.
