On Wednesday Evening at 5:41 p.m. the Cutchogue Fire Department was dispatched to assist the Mattituck Fire Department at the scene of a working boat fire.

A boat was on fire while docked at the Strong’s Marina located on Camp Mineola Rd. in Mattituck.

CFD’s Fire-Rescue Boat 8-5-10 which is equipped with a fire pump, was requested to respond to provide assistance and protect nearby boats in the marina.

Upon arrival of the first fire units, an active fire was found on the 45-foot-long vessel.

Mattituck firefighters deployed several handlines down the dock and were quickly able to bring the fire under control and prevent damage to any surrounding vessels.

Once on scene the crew from Cutchogue Fire Department’s boat stood by and provided assistance with overhaul process.

After the fire was out, CFD maneuvered the burned vessel to from its dock to the travel lift so it could be removed from the water by marina staff.

CFD’s boat which is docked in New Suffolk during the boating season stands ready to respond quickly to emergencies in and around Peconic Bay.

CFD units were on scene for 90 minutes.

No injuries were reported.
