Memorial Day is a day set aside to remember and pay tribute to the brave men and women of the US Military who gave their lives so we may continue to enjoy the freedoms of our country.
On Monday morning, the officers & members of the CFD, the CFD Marching Band, Ladies Auxiliary, and CFD Juniors marched through the streets of Southold as participants in the Annual Southold Town Memorial Day Parade in their honor.
The parade, which was held this year in Southold Village, began at 10 AM at the corner on Boisseau and Main road. It included Veterans of the United States Armed Forces, various school and community groups, and many of our local fire departments.
There were many spectators along the route, many waving small flags and applauding as the participants marched by. The parade continued through the heart of Southold village and concluded at the Griswold-Terry-Glover American Legion Post 803.
Earlier in the weekend in, a contingent of members from the Cutchogue FD came together on Saturday morning to place flags on the graves of our local Military Veterans and CFD members that are buried in the Cutchogue Cemeteries in preparation for Memorial Day.
These flags represent a small token of appreciation in recognition of the US Military Veterans and CFD members that have served both the Country and our community.
On this Memorial Day, Cutchogue Fire Department would like to take the time to honor all of those who have selflessly made the "ultimate sacrifice" for the freedoms and rights we enjoy.
Your devotion to your Country and its Citizens is forever appreciated.
God Bless America |
