On Monday March 24th CFD firefighters joined our neighbors from the Southold FD for a night of training focusing on SCBA / Air Management at the Cutchogue Fire Department.
This month, Firefighters from the Departments challenged each other to a friendly game of Floor Hockey, following up on last months Inter-Department Training held in Southold where they played dodgeball. https://www.cutchoguefiredept.org/news/1400/Inter-Department-Training-with-Southold---SCBA-Air-Managment
Besides being a friendly competition to build comradery, this was a drill that was designed to build trust in a firefighters SCBA while focusing on Air Management in stressful or physical situations.
Throughout the games firefighters had to wear their turnout gear and utilize their SCBA to breathe while participating.
In addition to playing the game the goal was to have your air last as long as possible.
The night was filled with fun and laughs with our friends.
Thanks to Southold FD for joining us for a fun night, We look forward to training with you again soon.
During the winter, simple indoor trainings such as this allow firefighters to "get back to basics" and focus / review some of the most basic skills.
Earlier in the week, during CFD 's monthly training night Firefighters reviewed knots and ropes and how to perform victim removal using drags. |
