We are saddened to learn of the recent passing of one of our past firefighters.
It is with deep regret that the Chiefs announce that Former Lieutenant and Honorary member John Elliot Dawson has answered his last alarm.
Elliot or "Doc" as he was know to many around the firehouse and in town, passed away at his home in North Carolina on March 8th at the age of 73.
He joined CFD in 1975 as our 334th member and remained active until he moved south to North Carolina in 1995.
He was a skilled mechanic and was known as a respected pump operator and reliable chauffer at CFD.
He was Lieutenant of the old engine 8-5-4 (Ward La France) for many years and was often found behind the wheel driving and operating the pump at many of the major fires on the North Fork during his time with the Department.
Any Funeral / memorial services are pending and may be held held locally at a later date.
