June 16, 2026

Early Monday morning at the Stroke of Midnight the Cutchogue Fire Department was dispatched to a reported Motor Vehicle Accident on Eugenes Rd in Cutchogue.

Police and Fire Department units arrived to find a single vehicle accident in which a small sedan had left the roadway striking trees and bushes that caused the vehicle to rollover coming to rest on its roof.

The sedan suffered substantial damages causing the one occupant to be trapped in his vehicle.

Firefighters using hydraulic rescue tools "Jaws of Life" from Heavy Rescue Truck 8--5--5 arrived and went to work stabilizing the vehicle and removing the front and rear driver side doors so that EMS personnel can treat him.

The driver was packaged and transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead with non-life threatening injuries.

Units were on scene for approximately 45 minutes.

Southold Town Police Units were on scene to investigate the crash.

This was the first of 3 calls during the overnight hours.

Volunteers also responded to an EMS alarm at 5:40 am in which a patient suffered severe lacerations, resulting in an medivac transport to Stony Brook University Hospital by Suffolk Count Police Helicopter. The helicopter landed at the Cutchogue Fire Department grounds where a landing zone was established by CFD Firefighters.

Thank You to everyone who assisted and continue to respond to any emergency.

Over the past week CFD volunteers have responded to 18 calls.
