2024 would officially come to a close for CFD on Tuesday evening when the last call for the year was recorded.
The final call for the year was on New Years Eve at 6:18 p.m. representing the 511th call for service for the year. This was the last of 3 calls for that day.
The alarm total for 2024 represents the second-highest total in the Department's 96-year history. The Department previously ran 521 calls in 2012, a year that was highlighted by Hurricane Sandy.
The New Year began for CFD only a few hours later with the 1st call for 2025 coming in at 12:50 a.m. for an EMS alarm.
