It is with great sadness that the Chiefs Announce the passing of Paramedic Richard Hartmann

Rich passed away yesterday at Hampton Care Center in Southampton surrounded by family.

He was 81 years old.

Rich joined CFD in 1998 as member #463. He served as a paramedic, and a past Rescue Squad Captain

Rich was EMT of the year in 2002 & 2009 and was always among some of the most active CFD Rescue Squad members, especially during the daytime hours.

He could often be seen on calls and riding in the back of the ambulance with his wife and fellow Paramedic Kathy.

2024 would have marked his 50th year as an EMS provider in various agencies including Westhampton and Flanders Ambulance Corps.

Additionally he had been a career paramedic working with private ambulance companies before retiring.

During his career at CFD Rich would serve as Rescue Squad Captain, a position he would hold for nearly 10 years.

In addition to his wife Kathy, his daughter Danielle would also CFD as an EMT.

When not in the ambulance, Rich could be seen behind the lens of a camera.

As one of the "CFD photographers" he can be credited with capturing the images and many memories of our families and events around CFD. For that we will be forever grateful.

Many of his images have been a part of this website throughout the years.

Funeral Arrangements are as follows:

Visitation: Friday December 6th: 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Defriest-Grattan Funeral Home located at13805 Main Rd, Mattituck, NY 11952

A Firematic Service will be held at 7:30 pm

Funeral: Saturday December 7th at 10 am at the St. Peters Lutheran Church in Greenport. Burial will follow the funeral service

The Chiefs officers and members would like to express our heartfelt condolences to his wife Kathy, daughter Danielle and the entire Hartmann Family, and all of Rich's Friends and extended family here at CFD.

Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time.

May he rest in peace
