Early Saturday Morning, shortly after 5am the Cutchogue Fire Department was dispatched to assist the Riverhead Fire Department while they battled a large Brush Fire located north of Sound Avenue in Riverhead.
A total of 18 area fire departments were dispatched throughout the night and into the early morning to provide Brush Trucks, manpower and special equipment to help battle the stubborn fire.
CFD was requested to stand-by at Riverhead FD Headquarters to cover any additional calls in their district. A crew on Engine 8-5-4 stood by along with the Hampton Bays FD for over 5 hours until being released after 10 am. |
