New Fire Police Unit Placed in service

October 28, 2019

Earlier this month the Cutchogue Fire Department officially placed in service its new Fire Police Unit 8-5-15.

In August CFD took delivery of the Unit that was build by Proliner of Medford. Since that time initial training has been completed and the vehicle has been lettered and outfitted with equipment for use at emergency scenes.

The new truck responded to its first calls this week, responding to two different motor vehicle accidents.

This vehicle replaced an aging 25 year old ambulance that was converted to a fire police unit.

Built on a Ford f550 chassis, the new unit has a custom built rescue type body that was custom designed for our needs.

It holds various equipment that will be used during large Fire Police operations such as MVA's, as well as carry additional equipment to support fire ground and rescue operations.

Some features include:
4-door cab with seating for 5
Increased storage
Slide out traffic cone holder
Floodlighting and light tower
Variable message board and traffic arrow.
Barricades
Assorted ANSI Approved Fire Police jackets and vests.
Rechargable traffic wands and flashlights
Custom lettering by Jim Fetten of Fetten Sign / Firetrucklettering.com

Thank you to the Board of Fire Commissioners and everyone who has worked on this project.

Additionally over the course of the past month 7 members of the CFD Fire Police Squad completed the 20 hour Suffolk County Fire Police Certification course hosted by the Suffolk County Fire academy.

Units: 8-5-15.
