Mourning a Loss: Ex-Chief and Ex-Commissioner Vincent R. Wieczorek has answered his last Alarm

It is with deep regret that the Chiefs announce that Ex-Chief and Ex-Commissioner Vincent R. Wieczorek has answered his last alarm.

Vinnie passed away on June 25th in North Carolina surrounded by family at the age of 85..

He Joined CFD in 1964 and remained active until 1993 when he moved to North Carolina.

He served as Chief in 1977-1978, and was on the Board of Fire Commissioners in from 1982-1985.

Vinnie served in the US Navy during the Korean war. He was a Tin Can Sailor on the USS Dashiell.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Eleanor M. Wieczorek; children, Vincent M. Wieczorek, Patrice M. Wieczorek, Douglas G. Wieczorek, Kara A. Demarest and husband Jeff; grandchildren, Douglas P Wieczorek, David E. Wieczorek and McKenna J. Demarest.

His son Douglas, began his firefighting career with Cutchogue FD, and now serves as a career Firefighter with the City of Charlotte N.C Fire Dept.

We would like to extend our Heartfelt condolences to the Vinnie's wife Eleanor, the entire Wieczorek family including Doug, and all of his many Friends here at CFD.

Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in New York.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, 416 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC 27203.
