MVA - Box Truck Rolls Over in the Village

On Friday September 28th, just after 1:00 p.m. the Cutchogue Fire Department was dispatched for a reported motor vehicle accident on Route 25 in Cutchogue Village in front of the Our Lady of Mercy School.

First responders arrived to find a two vehicle accident that involving a box truck that rolled onto its side after being struck by an oncoming car.

Firefighters arrived to find the truck actively leaking fuel from a ruptured fuel line, causing fuel to leak onto the roadway and threatening to enter a nearby storm drain.

The first arriving Engine from 8-5-4 crew quickly protected the drain by using dirt to create a barrier until the leak could be controlled while CFD EMS personnel and the Stony Brook First Responder began treating the two drivers.

Both drivers were transported to local hospitals and treated for non life threatening injuries.

Firefighters remained on scene and stood by while a heavy tow truck worked to upright the vehicle and clear the roadway.

All units cleared the scene after approximately 2 hours.

Units: Engine 8-5-4, Heavy Rescue 8-5-5, Ambulance 8-5-16& 17, Fire Police 8-5-6 & 15 ,
