CFD Hosts Southold Town Fire Chiefs Council

On Monday April 17th, the Southold Town Fire Chiefs Council held their regular meeting and Annual Elections at the Cutchogue Fire Department.

The Association is comprised of all of the 8th and 10th division Fire Departments that includes Orient, East Marion, Greenport, Southold, Cutchogue, Mattituck, Plum Island, Fishers Island, and Shelter Island.

The Association meets on a regular basis to foster working relationships between the member departments and address common issues that pertain to the fire service of Southold Town. The membership is comprised of all Current and past Chiefs of the member Departments.

This months meeting was hosted by CFD and began with dinner for the attendees at 7pm. Immediately followed by the meeting.

During the meeting elections were held for the executive board for the coming year.

Congratulations to the 2017 Council Officers:

President Bruno Semon - Orient FD
1st Vice President: Carlisle Cochran Jr. - Southold FD
2nd Vice President: Frank Thorpe - East Marion FD
Secretary / Treasurer: Peggy Killian - Southold FD

Outgoing President Norman Reilly Jr. of the Mattituck FD was honored for his service as president over the past 2 years.

The members of the Cutchogue Fire Department would like to congratulate him on completing his tenure and thank him for the many years of friendship and dedication.

As part of this months meeting the newly delivered Suffolk County Mobile Command Unit (MCU-1) was on hand for display and demonstration for the area chiefs.


The new unit is operated by Suffolk County Fire Rescue (FRES) is a resource that is available to any department to respond during a large scale incidents or special events throughout the county. The new command unit has the latest communication and video technologies, and provides space for the command staff to operate during incidents. When requested at an incident the unit is staffed with a Emergency Services Dispatcher from Firecom.

The Cutchogue Fire Department would like to thank the Commissioner of Suffok County Fire Rescue Joe Williams and head Dispatcher Greg Minutti for making the demonstration of this valuable resource possible.
